June is National Outdoors Month, the perfect time to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine before it gets too hot in the weeks to come. Whether you’ve been staying active all winter long or you need to take things easy, there are a plethora of ways you can enjoy the great outdoors. Need some ideas? Keep scrolling for a few!
Activities Outdoors for All Fitness Levels
Hiking: Whether you live in the Bay Area, where We’ve Got Your Back is located, or another part of the country, hiking is a great way to get outside and connect with nature. With websites like All Trails and the Hiking Project, it is easy to find trails near you. The beautiful thing about hiking is that there are paths for all levels of hikers, from easy ones with shorter distances and low inclines to more challenging hikes with steep inclines and miles of trail. Start slow and build your way up if you’re just starting out.
Biking: This is another terrific way to get outdoors that anyone can enjoy. If you live close enough to work, leave the car at home and use a bike to get there instead. Not only will you be doing the environment a favor, you’ll also be doing yourself one with the exercise and fresh air.
Swimming: It only makes sense that swimming is included on this list of summer activities. Its low-impact on the body makes it the perfect way to strengthen your muscles while also cooling you off from the summer sizzle.
Yoga: If you’ve ever wanted to pick up this practice, now may be the perfect time to give it a shot in a quiet and serene space outdoors. The beauty about yoga is that it’s about listening to your body and its limits with practices for beginners to the advanced. Taking part in Yoga outside gives you the opportunity to strengthen your body while reflecting on the nature that surrounds you.
More important than any of these suggestions is the fact that getting outside, no matter what you decide to do, is good for your mind and body. So go outdoors, take a deep breath of the fresh air and enjoy the sunshine!
